Years of research have correlated adult and child well-being with having two responsible, consistent, dependable parents in the home. This is clearly the best environment for children and parents. Whereas it is not always possible to have the traditional family in each home, it is always possible to have two responsible, consistent, dependable caregivers, living together or apart, for each family. And it is always possible to have those caregivers working together in the best interests of the child.

While working with agencies promoting strong families, Pascale Sykes has learned that agencies working in coordination are most effective in working holistically with family members and the family as a whole. We have also learned that lasting results take time to develop and maintain. Therefore, the Foundation awards a few substantial grants lasting 5 to 7 years to collaborations using the Whole Family Approach to coach or mentor families and family members as they work toward common goals.
